In 1851, John is listed as Timber Merchant, in 1861 as Grocer & Baker
(see also clipping from Kelly's Directory 1861).
Rebecca her birth year is 1818 following the census 1851, but 1813 following the
census of 1861.
Scothern was in 1861 (Kelly's directory) a village with
579 inhabitants (7 more than
in 1851).
Apart from farmers, a schoolmistress and a schoolmaster,
the village hosts all rural community professions plus the baker.
