Software Information
about the
Alpha and MIPS Systems
The software of the new DEC Unix (OSF/1) version 4.0 (currently only
installed on 'aibn34') had been newly compiled and will soon
be available on all Alphas at '/usr/local', see the
list of all new
software packages.
Older software:
Concerning the two big image reduction programs in use at the
Sternwarte,
the
Munich Image Data
Analysis System (MIDAS) by the European Southern Observatory
(ESO), Garching [started by 'inmidas no' or
'gomidas no'] and the
Image Reduction and Analysis Facility
(IRAF) by the National Optical Astronomy Observatories (NOAO), Tucson,
Cerro Tololo (Tody 1986) [started by 'iraf'],
the following programs are called from MIPS|Ultrix (aibn70,71,72)
and Alpha|OSF/1 (aibn25,31,32,33,34) respectively:
- MIDAS on ULTRIX,
aibn55:/cluster/midas/94NOV
- MIDAS on DEC Alpha,
aibn20:/aibn20_0/midas/95NOV
- IRAF on ULTRIX,
aibn70:/aibn70_2/iraf
- IRAF on DEC Alpha,

Additionaly the photometry software SExtractor (version 2.0.15) is installed
('/aibn31_0/sextractor').
