Installation notes for Karma

Please follow the instructions in general.readme before attempting to use Karma.

The files karma.env and karma.login may either be added to your login
scripts 

	(add contents of karma.env to .cshrc and 
         add contents of karma.login to .login)

or you may want to set up a Karma user account with these files defining the default
login environment.

Karma documentation can be found in

	/astro/karma/doc

To check that the karma installation, start up a tcsh shell and

	cd /home/astro
	source start.karma
	fits2karma m51.fits m51
	kview



This should translate the m51 image into karma image format and display it
in the 2d image viewer. Click `m51.kf' in the file selection dialog. 
You may need to modify the colormap to make the image visible!
