Wikipedia: Bridport is a market town in Dorset, England, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) inland from the English Channel near the confluence of the River Brit and its tributary the Asker. Its origins are Saxon. Since the Middle Ages Bridport has been associated with the production of rope and nets.

People in this trade were also called "rope walkers" There is, in Bridport, still a street by that name (see Dorsetlife, also the source of the photo).

George had gone to school but at age 15 (census of 1861) was already emplyed as "Dresser".

Elizabeth her maiden name is not known so nothing could be found about her background.

George is in 1881 "Hemp Dresser By Hand (Rope)" while his wife Elizabeth is "Shoe Thread Winder By Hand".
According to the census records of 1871 and 1881 they lived in East Street, Bridport, Dorset.
