John is porter at the baptism of Mary Catherine (see 18460705). He is that too when William Robert is born but now there is added to the family name (or just her name): "lately Abigail" (see 18490331) as if Mary Ann had changed her family name. Or did she insist on including her maiden name? In 1850 it is mother Mary Ann Abigail. 

When Mary Catherine marries he is shoemaker while his first name is given as Thomas (see 18690622).
