Notes:

The SZE is detectable at any redshift for which regions with large electron pressure exist. SZE galaxy cluster surveys have a well understood selection function that is a mild function of cosmology and redshift - unlike X-ray, optical, and infrared surveys. The number of clusters detected is limited by a minumum cluster mass, which even decreases at redshifts above 1, due to the decreasing angular diameter distance and an increase of the gas temperature.
Upcoming SZE surveys should be sensitive to minimum cluster masses or order 10^14 to 10^15 Msun. They will allow a detailed study of the growth of structure. They also provide a well defined sample for studies of individual clusters, as probes of cosmology, and for studies of the physics of galaxy clusters.
