142_00 SiO Maser Survey,  Habing et al., Observing Instructions


Read the instructions in the folder. Ask the AoD for help, or rather, to do the observations.
Ask the operator to warm up the LOs early enough (30min) if you switch from bolometer.

Log into the VAX as v_142_00 (same pw as for v_tbogle).
Ask operator to enter configuration AB.

Start with MSX58 or FC33_563 (18 02, -22 40)as a calibrator.
Do a cal cold about every 3rd scan. Check that the water vapor values are similar for all receivers, else the receiver parameters (forward efficiency, Tcold) may be wrong.
I think that 100" wobble switch might be good.
After the observation you might comment out the source from the habing3.edb which displays the remaining sources in xephem.
