Proposal Preparation Tutorials: Radio interferometry with ALMA: the spectral setup

This brief tutorial provides an introduction to some basic concepts related to spectral observations. In particular it presents the concepts of spectral lines, rest frequency, source velocity (redshift), line width and spectral resolution, as well as the basics on how spectral windows can be included in your setup to cover different spectral lines. The tutorial is aimed at astronomers and a general audience who wish to become familiar with basic concepts of spectral line observations.
