Abstract
At the time of the Gotha meeting in which Lalande took part, there were several private observatories in Paris. But the main places devoted to official astronomy were the Observatoire de Paris, the Observatoire de la Marine and the Observatoire de l'Ecole militaire. Despite the Révolution française in 1789, followed by difficult years, important works were performed in these institutions, the main one - as considered from the international point of view - being the establishement of the Système métrique décimal. Consideration was given to the astronomical activity in Paris around 1800.
